Where We Started
Our story begins in 1993, with Guinness Flight Global Asset Management, Ltd. Until then, this London-based mutual fund company served investors across the globe with funds based in London and Guernsey. In 1993, they established a U.S. division, known as Guinness Flight US, which launched its first U.S.-based funds in June 1994.
Four years later, Guinness Flight was acquired by Investec, a South African bank that exited the U.S. market in 2002. That same year, forward-thinking, value-oriented investment managers from both the London and U.S. offices of Guinness Flight founded Guinness Atkinson Asset Management. By April 2003, this newly independent mutual fund company had assumed full management of the Guinness Atkinson Funds.

The Funds invest in foreign securities which will involve political, economic and currency risks, greater volatility, and differences in accounting methods. The Funds are non-diversified meaning their assets may be concentrated in fewer individual holdings than diversified funds. Therefore, the Funds are more exposed to individual stock volatility than diversified funds. The Funds invest in smaller companies, which will involve additional risks such as limited liquidity and greater volatility.
